years for a murder he did not commit. john edward smith was 18 years old when he was convicted. intern with wrongful conviction group wrote a long shot letter to the only witness in the case asking to meet about the case. he did. and recanted his story. smith was exonerated yesterday. john hart from our sister station in los angeles reports.
